10 Things God Pours Out on His People
by Annie Yorty
When the torrents of life rage, do you simply put up your umbrella and dodge raindrops? Have you resigned yourself to a soggy life? Maybe there’s a better way. Dive deep into the Word to appreciate these 10 things God pours out on His people.
When It Rains, It Pours
“Will this month never end?” My friend Terri shook her head and stared into her cup of coffee for a minute, as if the answer could be found in the steaming liquid. She recounted the string of events that ranged from relatively minor to more severe. A tire blew on her car. The sink backed up. The vacuum cleaner quit working. Her elderly mom caught pneumonia and landed in the hospital.
“You know how it is,” she said. “When it rains, it pours.”
Later, I thought about this maxim a bit more. It goes without saying (yet I’m saying it anyway😊), our lives get plenty of figurative precipitation. And we often get back-to-back downpours of troubles.
Then I thought of another type of downpour—or more accurately, an outpouring.
10 Things God Pours Out on His People
In the Bible we find at least 10 things God pours out on His people. No deluge of life’s problems can dilute or wash away these promises of God.
Grace
So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. (Ephesians 1:6 NLT)
Kindness
He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding. (Ephesians 1:8 NLT)
Blessing
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. (Ephesians 1:3 NLT)
Wisdom
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. (James 1:5 NLT)
Spirit
He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. (Titus 3:6 NLT)
Comfort
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. (2 Corinthians 1:3 NLT)
Peace
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. (2 Thessalonians 3:16 NLT)
Love
The love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (Romans 5:5 NASB)
Joy
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13 NLT)
Favor
But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me. (1 Corinthians 15:10a NLT)
An Unparalleled Outpouring from God
When I meditate on these 10 things God pours out on His people—me and you, I feel overwhelmed, undone.
I don’t deserve any of these outpourings.
I don’t merit the wonders of God’s presence.
I can’t fathom His desire to be near to me. How can He bear the stench of my sin?
But then I remember Christ washed over that acrid odor. His blood covers me—and anyone else who surrenders control of their life to Him—with the sweet smell of salvation.
This is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many. (Matthew 26:28 NLT)
The pouring out of Jesus’ blood sets us up to be flooded with God’s presence. When life rains, then pours, we can toss aside the umbrella defense and dive into the never-ending flood of His goodness.

This Is Where It Ends
I think you’ll enjoy this highly recommended new release by Cindy Sproles. Take a look at the synopsis:
When Minerva Jane Jenkins was just 14 years old, she married a man who moved her to the mountains. He carried with him a small box, which he told her was filled with gold. And when he died 50 years later, he made her promise to keep his secret. She is to tell no one about the box or the treasure it contains.
Now 94, Minerva is nearing the end of what has sometimes been a lonely life. But she’s kept that secret. Even so, rumors of hidden gold have a way of spreading, and Minerva is visited by a reporter, Del Rankin, who wants to know more of her story. His friend who joins him only wants to find the location of the gold. Neither of them knows quite who they’re up against when it comes to the old woman on the mountain.
As an unlikely friendship develops, Minerva is tempted to reveal her secret to Del. After all, how long is one bound by a promise? But the truth of what’s really buried in the box may be hidden even from her.

What a vivid visual of God’s outpourings. I think what means the most to me is whatever I most need at the time– and it could be any one of the ten at any given time. Right now I’d have to say His peace is what I most value.
Annie Yorty
Candyce, I know I asked a kind of impossible question. Thanks for visiting and doing your best to answer. God always gives us just what we need as just the right time.

It’s hard to choose one from all the amazing gifts God has poured out on us and I’m grateful for each one. I think love is the one which touches me most deeply, because all His gifts stem from that, I think. Thank you, Annie.
